Hello -
I am in the process of compiling my application for ESMT's January 2021 MBA intake. I'm seeing that admissions is offering the option of taking something called the GMAC Essential Skills Assessment in place of the GMAT/GRE. I am curious if anyone out there has taken this before, or some other similar alternative to the GMAT/GRE, and could provide feedback on if it has obvious benefits to the online GRE test, which is what I was planning on submitting for my test for the application. I haven't taken the GRE yet, was planning on taking it at the beginning of next month ...
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

This is similar to their Executive Assessment, about which there is another thread.

Ah okay, got it, thanks for the note, Duncan.

If you're just applying to one school, and they accept this test, then fine. But if you are planning on applying to more than one school, take the GMAT.

Yes, I'm only applying to one school that needs the test! I am applying to another European one-year MBA program, but that other school has already waved the test score for me, so it's just the one school. My concern is, I've only been studying for the GRE, and from what I can tell, the GMAC Essential Skills questions are more in line with the GMAT question structures ... would certainly prefer to just take the GMAC essential skills test just for the shortness of the test alone, though I'm concerned about bombing it, as the GMAC doesn't provide any practice/prep materials ...

which is the other european school that has waived off the GMAT requirement. Even I'm planning to only apply to ESMT and similar colleges with no gmat requirement

Hey Ayush - I'm going to apply to RSM, and the admissions dept has told me that they'll need to assess my application first but that there's a chance that I wont need to submit my test score. For ESMT I'll be submitting a GRE test score - I'm actually about to take that this afternoon - wish me luck :)
I also applied and was given admittance to SDA with the GMAT/GRE waiver but they did have me take their university test as a replacement, which I'm getting the impression has some overlap with the GMAC...

Hey Richard!
Hope your application with ESMT went well. I was searching for GMAC essential skill test preparation materials when I came across your post. Am applying for ESMT MIM program too, any suggestions for the skill test? And if I understood it correctly, you submitted your GRE score instead of above exam?

Hey Samidha!
I submitted the GMAC essential skills (which I took yesterday) instead of my GRE. There aren't any study materials online that I could find for the Essential Skills test. If you're looking to study for it, I think that GMAC just suggests to look at GMAT study materials? I just went for it.
Best of luck with the application!

Hi Richard,
I took the Essential Skills, but doing calculations was difficult without writing down. How did you do it? Were you able to calculate without any writing materials?

I certainly tried my best! Ha. I understand why there isn't a onscreen calculator though it's definitely a challenge.
