A gap on your CV is less of a problem than not having clear goals. The worst reason to take a degree is because you don't know what else to do.

I aim to get into management consulting. Unfortunately, the market here is pretty down. I have the only option of extending my internship which is at a ft 500 but is not teaching me anything apart from the data collection work that no one wants to do.

It's good to have an internship, especially if they pay you something notable. In which country do you want to work? What's the skills gap between what you have now and what you need? How much work experience do you have?

They aren't paying me anything and it's basically just boring data entry. I have about a year and a half of work experience. I am looking for a few mim programs this year and have offers from a few schools. I talked to a few people at Deloitte, EY etc but they said they aren't hiring

A high quality MiM with strong placement is a good option. Depending on where you are focussed on, this is a good time for networking, personal branding and learning things the MiM won't give you.

Thank you for your reply. So there is no use in continuing the internship? I am planning to brush up my data analytics skills till I join the MiM in September

Focus on what you need to be a stronger participant in the MiM. For some people the internship could be useful. For others, it might be something else. Focus on your goals, then on what the best route is to your goals, and then on the things that are hardest to gain.
