MBA from Canadian University

iJasmeet

Hello Everyone ,

I'm planning to do a fulltime MBA program from canada but i m confused whether to do it from a college or a University .
I Believe this would be the best platform , from where i can get the best idea .""""My main aim is to get a decent job in specialised field of study ."""

Here are few points i would like to share

1. I have 2 yrs of work experience in sales .

2. My qualification - MBA (MArketing - fulltime) + BBA(I plan to do another MBA from canada bcoz my previous didnt help me much . )

3. GMAT = 530 (Pretty low v-20 , Q -44)

4.My budget would be around 20000 - 25000 CAD

5. I m looking for a decent business school at decent location which helps me in getting a job as soon as i complete my MBA .

6. Above all , Which Specialization is in demand in canada coz my aim would be to settle down in canada only ??

Thanks in advance !!!

Try asking this on the Americas board. Generally, if you take an MBA in Canada then that has to be at a university, since the Royal Military College is the only college which awards an MBA. Also remember that outside India the MBA is normally not a specialised degree: it is a degree in management.

Because most Canadians don't know what lakhs are, even if spelt correctly, give your budget in Canadian dollars ;-)

By the way, in Canada, I think you'll find that firms hiring MBAs are really looking for these job functions -- but do remember that the degree is not heavily specialised outside India. I have listed them in declining order of frequency.
# Marketing
# Sales
# General Management
# Consulting
# Project Management
# Strategy/Planning
# Information Technology
# Product Management

Your budget might struggle to cover the cost of a Canadian MBA and, of course, the higher-quality courses cost most. I suggest you work through this list:

i have gone through the link and i think these tuition fee are not updated .

Many universities have upgraded their tuition fee by 60 - 70 percent .
Apart from that , you have suggested me different specialisation and i really appreciate your efforts . I need an advice from you - As per my profile(shared above) , which specialization would be suitable for me ??

Positively,

Hi iJasmeet. Well, since you work in sales, and since sales and marketing are at the top of that list, I'd suggest a specialisation (in Canada I think there are most likely to write about taking a 'concentration') in marketing (since sales is part of marketing, and few schools have a focus in sales) would be the most credible for you.

However the options is also there to not take a concentration. Most MBA students outside India don't specialise or concentrate on one topic; instead they take the first half of the MBA to broaden their general management knowledge and then use the second half to strengthen their skills and knowledge across multiple areas.

Yes, it's hard to find a list of updated fees for Canada however I think the groupings -- above average and below average fees -- will be mostly the same. The highest quality programmes have above average fees. In particular I think you can expect the best-known, internationally-accredited programmes (like Alberta, McMaster, McGill, Toronto, UBC, UWO, Queen's) to be above average.
