Introduction of HKU MBA Programme

The rapid growth of Asia as a hub for global business has created tremendous opportunities for entrepreneurs and managers. If you’re looking for an MBA programme that will prepare you to make the most of the Asian boom, look no further than the Faculty of Business & Economics at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).

Why HKU MBA?

Regional Perspective (Strong China Factor)

HKU’s MBA programme is carefully designed to give you a first-class education, real-world experience, a deep understanding of international business and a valuable appreciation of cultural sensitivities. In particular, our Asia-Pacific focus will give you a unique advantage to
build your career in the region or indeed anywhere in the world given that Asia is at the centre for any business venture around the world. Within the Asia focus there is a strong element of China business. This makes our MBA highly relevant to the region’s dynamic and evolving business environment.

One of our key differentiator is Asia Case Research Centre (ACRC), which develops content-rich business case studies to meet the growing need for business education in Asia and particularly in China. Our research led teaching framework keeps our students abreast with the emerging business strategies, economic policies, and management practices, and financial developments across the region.

Worldwide Recognition

The Economist ranks HKU MBA No. 1 in Asia.

In the latest World MBA Rankings released by The Economist, HKU MBA Programme is ranked No.1 in Asia and 36 in the world. Although the full-time MBA programme at HKU has a relatively young history, the Faculty of Business and Economics has demonstrated impressive results in world rankings. Since entering The Economist Ranking in 2003, HKU MBA is consistently ranked one of the top programmes in the world.

HKU MBA for the first time has entered the Financial Times (FT) rankings of the full-time MBA programmes and is ranked No. 37 in the world. This is great beginning for us given that we are one of the youngest MBA programmes in the region and have managed to grow and build one of the most dynamic programmes in a very short period.

HKU was ranked no.1 in Asia and 22nd in the world in the Quacquareli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2011. HKU was also consistently ranked as one of the top universities in Asia by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

Global Vision: LBS & CBS partnerships

The unique partnerships with world-renowned business schools: London Business School and Columbia Business School provide our students unmatched opportunities in terms of educational experience and networking. These partnerships enable our students to gain most current international experience among the top-three major business centres in the world. Our existing partnership with Fudan University in China further enhances the learning on doing business in the world’s biggest marketplace.

Case-based Approach

HKU MBA thoroughly adopts an experiential-learning approach with case study approach. Business cases train our students to become effective problem-solvers and decision-makers in rapidly changing business settings. These cases are written by our own professors and are published by our prolific Asia Case Research Centre (www.acrc.org.hk). Relatively small class size allows more extensive interaction and collaboration.
Full-time MBA Programme

HKU MBA is an intensive 14 months programme offered with the option of three streams:
London Track with London Business School, New York Track with Columbia Business School and China Concentration Track with Fudan University

HKU MBA is integrated with London/Columbia Business School, both rated among the top ten institutions in the world. After completing their core courses at HKU, students will travel to London or New York to study electives along with the MBA/EMBA students of these schools. Those interested in China can choose China Track to be completed in Fudan University, China.

The London & New York Connection: An Expanded Global Vision

The unique partnerships with world-renowned business schools such as London Business School and Columbia Business School provide our students with unmatched opportunities in terms of educational experience and networking. Both London and New York are world-class cities which offer a great environment for business education along with international exposure for our students.
China Concentration Track

Students opting for the China track would benefit from Mandarin language and Chinese cultural training in Beijing at the beginning of their MBA studies. In addition to studying core courses in Hong Kong along with other full-time classmates, students may enroll in our uniquely-designed electives on China business delivered in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Our existing partnership with Fudan University would be leveraged to allow students access to our Shanghai-based courses and to a large pool of HKU IMBA alumni in China.
