MBA in Oil and Gas Management, Mineral Resources Management
Course ContentThe specialised MBA degree is available on a distance learning basis. It comprises five core modules and five specialised modules, plus a two-part Integrative Strategy module. The core modules are provided by Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. The five specialised modules are provided by the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy. All modules are paper-based, with web-based learning support tools. There is a two-week on-campus element which students will attend at CEPMLP, as part of the Integrative Study module. Student SupportCore and specialist modules enable distance learning students to work from texts which are designed specifically for a student working alone. The materials contain self-assessment exercises which enable students to monitor their own progress and to test their understanding of the material as they progress. Each core module is accompanied by a set of test materials designed to measure understanding and application of all concepts; comprehension is assessed by a combination of multiple choice questions, short essay questions and cases. Model answers are provided for all types of questions. Final practice examinations with model solutions are also provided in each module. In addition, on-line support is available offering discussion groups to facilitate peer contact. Students also have an opportunity to join local informal study groups in many countries across the world through the Student Link Network. Edinburgh Business School also offers a Helpline to respond to queries of an academic nature, providing written responses to queries received.
