MBA/MS-Information Systems
Read a Q&A session about the Mays MBA program with Graduate Business Career Services Director Jim Dixey at BusinessWeek Online.
Mays Business School offers MBA students the opportunity to receive both an MBA and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) in 24 months. The MS-MIS degree program produces graduates who are both business analysts (i.e., professionals who understand business) and information system specialists (i.e., professionals who can implement information systems strategies). Graduates of the program possess the skills to meet challenges and opportunities created by rapidly evolving information technology.
Receiving two master’s degrees in 24 months entails intensive training and course work in information systems and business administration. Potential employment opportunities for graduates of this program include corporate consulting, project management, IT consulting, financial systems administration, and supply chain management.
Exciting Career Opportunities
In today’s high-tech and globally-competitive world, information systems management plays an important role in business success. However, a critical shortage of professionally trained information systems managers exists in the workforce. At the same time, the demand for information systems managers is skyrocketing with projected 10-year growth rates of 38%, the fastest of any business discipline.
In an article titled “America’s Best Jobs in the Hottest Markets”, Business 2.0 magazine identifies information management jobs such as software developer, information technology manager and business process analyst as the highest demand and best paying jobs in America’s most exciting cities including Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Orlando. The job opportunities are anticipated to continue to grow in the future as well.
The Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) degree program prepares students to enter this exciting and dynamic career field. The MS-MIS degree program provides students with a solid technical information systems foundation and appropriate business skills that enables graduates to immediately contribute to solving business problems. Texas A&M University graduates are highly valued and respected in the workforce and are sought by first class employers.
Admission Criteria
Students enrolled in the Mays MBA program receive admission into the MS-MIS degree program subject to approval by Mays MBA Program, Mays Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, and the Department of Information and Operations Management.

NOTE: As outlined above, an MBA student would have to forfeit the opportunity to complete a summer internship to complete the requirements for both the MBA degree and the MS-MIS degree in 24 months. An interested student might be able to complete both degrees and a summer internship by beginning the MS-MIS degree program in the summer before beginning the MBA degree program. To complete this option, the student would need to coordinate with both the MBA Program Office (390 Wehner) and the INFO Student Services Office (330 Wehner).
