Thanks for your reply...
Just one query...as u wrote about personal experience (if u dnt mind)...have you been part of any of these universities...jus asking since ur help can be of an alumni to take better decisions.

lol! Oh I wont mind..cz there is nothing serious abt it!

Logically, how can a person be at all the three unis?!

No didnt study at any of the 3 unis mentioned by you...but i had applied to all the three b schools and got unconditional offers from the trio (for MSc)...prior applying i had done extensive research of my own and whatever comments i had written hold good for MBA and MSc as well.

Hi, I'm having offers from Leeds, Nottingham, Bradford,Durham and Glasgow. Reasons for choosing MBA, career route adjusting, knowledge/skills learning, network expanding and better pay with job prospects of course. How can I compare these offers according to my desires? Thanks for any advices.

As per me the reputation order is:
Nottingham>Durham>Leeds>Bradford=Glasgow.
Honestly, apart from Nottingham the difference between the rest is negligible...they almost belong to a same tier...

Arranging the b schools as per your desirous is illogical.

all the best.

I have got an offer from these universities in UK - Bradford/ Kent/ Glasgow/ Sheffield/ New Castle/ Royal Holloway (University of London)/ Southampton. Offers from Strathclye and Aston are awaited.

Yep, thats right all of them r in the same league...except Aston and Strathclyde.

Among the offer, its impossible to tell which one you should pick. Pick Royal Holloway if you are rich else pick anyone from the rest 6 if you are looking towards some smart budgetary moves. Standard wise all 7 are almost identical.

>I am working as a business analyst in an I.T company currently.<

1. Your total yrs of exp is 3+ or your experience in the business analyst position is 3+?
2. Are you a certified business analyst i.e. did you pass the CBAP from the IIBA?
3. Which Co are you employed at? Role?

You probably meant that Aston and Strath are superior to the other schools, didn't you? Check this: extras.timesonline.co.uk/tol_gug/gooduniversitygui…

@Malia:

In the Good Uni guide,

B Schools placed above Aston are:-
Judge, Said, LSE, Bath, Warwick, Loughborough, Exeter, Kings, St. Andrews and Lancaster.
B Schools placed above Strath and below Aston are:-
Tanaka and Cass.

As per "mbaspirant" options (posted above) Aston and Strath are indeed better options. Please the above posts.

Honestly, how can Bath beat Warwick?! Loughborough above Lancaster!!!?! I dont see Cranfield in the list so this list must be for the undergraduate study not MBA or MSc.

Yes, that's right. I justed wanted to demonstrate that Aston and Strathclyde are among the most reputed business schools in the UK.

Offended???!!? What rubbish! Chill bro...I was just horsing around...lol!

Rankings as per FT:
1. Durham's MBA ranked as 31st among all the European programs in the yr 2008*
2. Nottingham's MBA ranked 24th in the same ranking.
3. Aston's MBA didnt receive any rank!
4. Bath's MBA ranked 23rd.

Source: rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/european-bu…

So as you can see: its Bath>Nottingham>Durham>Aston.

But I ranked Nottingham (& Durham) higher than Bath since both being England have a better recognition than Bath which is in Wales. After all you ask as per recognition and quality not ranking right?!

I think I have answered your query.

As far as ranking goes...well you r not missing anything...FT & EIU are the credible ones...the catch lies in reading them closely rather than merely viewing the numerical rank on the left!

If you seek quality student life, amazing parties, beautiful but cheap city life etc -- go to Leeds

If you seek bad weather, tight b school schedule, serious biz education -- go to strathclyde

You make Leeds sound crap...nope...its not like that...Leeds is there in the FT list ... if you compare it with Strath, Strath's B school got some serious reputation among UK recruiters also being a student of Strath is a pain cz you will always b on ur toes...Leeds hold some fantastic student parties which few unis can match up.

Nope i cant compare for you, cz i am not u hence i dont share ur priorities...do ur own research...

^ thanks for ur kind words.

For a person having a work ex of 5 years u need to choose ur b school carefully. your peer group at the b school u study should be able to complement ur abilities.

MSc International Business is only for those who understands the fundamentals of business hence most schools make it mandatory that an applicant has his/her under grad degree in business/economics. You choice should be perfect since 5 yrs of work ex got u a pretty good insight regarding process and business.

Never mind what FT says in the MSc ranking, Bath, Bradford, Birmingham and Leeds are mediocre schools. Strathclyde, Aston and Durham are the places you ought to look forward to.

Aston being a small school has constantly been ignored by the FT ppl but is a triple accredited one and being situated at the 2nd city of England sure got its own advantages!

Durham as an Uni has a tremendous reputation in UK and as a b school also well known. Situated a pretty obscure but incredibly beautiful place Durham is great value for money particularly since its join the hall of fame of triple accredited club!

The Strathclyde aged 61+ yrs is a top tier business business school (triple accredited). Great faculty, high reputation and not to mention high rank in FT makes Strath a popular uni in the Scotland.

Personally, I think you priority should be Strath>Durham>Aston

At this point after reading the whole post you might be feel happy that my opinion is almost similar with urs (i am sure it it!!) but the whole post can be challenged by just one point!

The MSc International business degrees of Strath, Durham & Aston are not AMBA accredited...you will be surprised to know whose are....Birmingham, Bradford and Leeds!!!!!

Now how that can be?!!! Well, nobody can tell...I got just one thing to say...

AACSB is not a crap organization to give accreditation away to any Tom, Dick and Harry. Recognition of a Business School is very important; Triple accreditation makes the CV a nice piece of paper to look at for employers.

I have just let u know my views...u r free to accept/reject them...what ever u do, a 'very best of luck' to you from my side!!

Ciao!
