MBA without Work Experience ..
Hi you guys, Mon Aug 24, 2009 09:06 AM I am a newbie here, and I am aiming to do Management in UK. But one things you guys must understand is that MBA without work experience is useless. The main point is the returns you can get from it. Mostly people do MBA after they work for atleast 3-4 years. In this way they get the maximum increase in their salary, by as much as 115-200%. I am a fresher. And I also wish to do an MBA, but it will be worthless without work experience. So I am planning to MSc in Management or the likes from a UK Top B-School. In that way, tho not a guarantee, I can get a job there for around 14k-22k GBP and work as a junior analyst (which I believe is the lowest post) and work up the ladder. If you are lucky, the company might sponsor your MBA after some years. But thats all later. Right now, to freshers like me, I think it would be nice if we went along this line, i.e. MSc in Business related studies like Managment, etc... Please do correct me if I may be wrong. You are from a finance or commerce background. MSc in management would be a waste for you and many schools wont accept you. Better for you would be an MSc in Higher finance related specialisations.... do some research in the websites of the best universities... you will find that as a bcom grad, u will be suitable for finance, accounting, etc MSc....Thu Sep 03, 2009 10:00 AM And as of now if you go for MBA from schools abroad, it would have no value, no recruiter will recruit you, unless until some miracle happens... there are universities which give you mba without workex, but they jus love your money, thats all... don expect to find some work after that. The average salary of a proper MBA with 4-5 years of workex is atleast 90-100K $ p.a. People correct me if I am wrong.... An which company will pay u that amount as a fresher... I contacted some sir at Harvard, he is teaching as a faculty in my univerisity's b-school... he said MBA is like an art, gets better with experience... so its upto u to decide hiren.... and about money, well as per stats before recession, the average salary of an Msc grad was around 30k GBP p.a. with that you could pay the MSc tuition fees within less than an year. after that its all upto you, get some workex, and if you are really passionate about making it big, no money will stop you for going to an MBA programme which might cost a min of 35 lakhs rupees, but will get you a job worth a crore... but hiren, now return to reality, do you want to spend some 35-40 lakhs for an MBA and still have no job guarantee? i am going to choose for MSc which might max put me at 12 lakhs for tuition alone.... bro its your choice after all.... But i will suggest you this, if you wish to go for an MBA after direct graduation, better do it in India, where MBA without workex are comparable to MBA with workex, otherwise it is simply a waste of ur money.... people who think i am wrong, please do correct me Ajay roboajay@gmail.com |

hiren, like you I am also a fresher. I am aiming to go to UK for management post gradution in Sept 2010. I am looking at MSc in Management from top-15 b-schools in UK and EU...Fri Sep 04, 2009 12:53 PM Its only worthwhile if you go to these colleges. I am at present in India. Am currently preparing for GMAT, CAT, and IELTS. Before recession, MSc Grads were selling like hot cakes, but with recession a new rule has come into effect, wherein UK recruiters are supposed to state why they are recruiting a non-UK person if they are doing so and it seems there is a fine of 10k GBP on industries for each non-UK person they recruit. Not sure about this, please contact some one in UK. Anyhow in time of recession, idustries in UK prefer UK grads, then EU grads and finally Indians/Southeast Asians... I am aiming for Sept 2010 intake and if done, i'll be graduating by Sept 2011. So hopefully there will be some improvement in this situation. Its a gamble I am ready to take. So all those statistics I quoted before, about average pay, hot market etc. are with respect to situation before recess hit UK. I don not know the latest and current placement reports or such as posted by schools... And I think they will not post if there is a shortfall in demands and packages for their grads. However hiren, I do have another option, since MBA from UK is not easily affordable by me, I am looking at going for MBA after a few years from UAE, specifically Dubai. Its also good enough. Not yet finalised on this tho. Anyhow, so hopefully see u in UK sometime.... Readers if I made a mistake, do correct me. Ajay |
