I am class1 civil contractor from india, i take road,building government contracts,past few years,due to government polcies,i am not doing good business,i want to change my career,at 37 can do my mba(malaysia, university nottingham)and get agood job.Pl guide me.

If you are thinking a MBA is a miracle solution, you may be disappointed.

However, if you have already attained certain solid professional experience, and currently lacking of the business skills to transform your company, or thinking of switching career tracks, you may consider doing a MBA.

I agree. From my observation, experience and network are the most important issues for future work opportunities. However, with an MBA it significantly expands a network and it gives an opportunity for a re-start in a different or related field. I think pursuing an MBA is definitely worthwhile.

Hi,

I think that an mba can dramatically improve one's career prospects and raise your salary, but they are also very expensive and demanding, so if you are going to pursue one you want to make sure that you have done your research. You need to make the mba work for you too. Maybe considering an mba that allowed you to specialise in transport logistics/ strategy and management - such as the one offered at Aberdeen Business School - could be a good idea. But its also important that you chose an mba from a business school with a decent international ranking and recognised accreditation.

It is indeed vital to do a MBA in a top business school, it may not be enough to do your MBA in a decent international ranking.

Doing a MBA is not a desination, it is merely a beginning.

I am in construction past 8 years(in govt sector),giving my profits to govt babus(corruption)+taxes,alltogether 25% in the end nothing let to me,so i am thiking of a career change.

University of adelaide is a good school in Australia. If you plan to stay there to work, this will be a good choice. However, if you are planning to work in the Asia Pacific region, this is not as well known as some other schools such as HKUST, Nanyang MBA, HKU, CEIBS or NUS.

You have earlier asked me about MBA in Malaysia. I generally do not advise you to go there, unless you are a Malaysian. Why not try NUS or NTU? Both offer very good MBA programme.
