Russia?
Hey!Thu May 01, 2008 06:31 PM I am interested in the Vlerick Leuven MBA in St. Petersburg because I would like to work in Russia afterwards. Does anyone have info about that? Is it difficult to stay and work in Russia afterwards? Is it worth? Cheers. |

Hi there, I am not a speicalist for Russia, but Vlerick sounds like a good option to enter that job market. The Belgium Vlerick school has a good reputation - even though its not one of the top notch MBAs in Europe - so I think the partnership with St.Petersburg school guarantees a certain quality of their MBA.Thu Jun 05, 2008 07:03 PM Or are there many other MBAs in Russia with a name? One other MBA program that is just now launching in the Russian market is through GHP. It is a distance-learning plus approach. The program is fully accredited through IWU university--a university ranked the past 2 years in U.S. News and World Reports university rankings. The work permit really needs to come through your employer. It requires a legally registered (usu. for-profit company) that has accreditation. This entity applies for a certain number of permits per year. They will then need to work with you and your documents to get the work permit issued which will then allow a visa to be obtained or for the person in Russia they will then need to leave the country and obtain a new visa.Sat Jun 07, 2008 05:30 PM The good news is that once you have the work permit, future visas can be obtained in-country (unless there are additional legislative changes). |

Thanks for the input. In Europe it is similar - you need an employer to get hold of a visa (for non-Europeans)

Speaking of the best Russian business schools, I would recommend the St-Petersburg school of management (gsom.pu.ru).Thu Aug 06, 2009 02:17 PM I'm not sure about their MBA, whether they have an English-speaking one, but their international MSc programs are for sure the best ones in Russia. And the school is old, accredited and has many cooperations with descent international schools. |

in fact, i know russia very well. In big cities, you still find skin heads going after coloured people, shooting and stealing whatever they can. Businessmen there quite often hire bodyguards for their own safety. And remember this kid, corruption is everywhere, but you must know the right person. For a young college graduate looking for an entry level job, yes the world is beautiful and hiring is based on merits and nothing else. BTW, i dont need to live in Russia even one day to pass my judgement. Why need I? |
