MBA: Entrepreneurship, Finance
Hi,Sun Mar 02, 2008 05:20 PM I would like to know if somebody could recommend school, place, for 1year MBA full time, or maybe specialized MS in Entrepreneurship or Finance, that also offers some kind of good scholarships or loans for Eastern Europe people? Specifically, I'm very much interested in venture capital, corporate finance, equity and relations to entrepreneurship. So I see myself in either entrepreneurship or corporate finance, some place which offers such possibilities and good career. I was lately looking schools like ESCP EAP, RSM, Nimbas, St Gallen, Bocconi, was looking schools like IMD, IESE, LBS but those last have really high costs, except maybe that I got some 100% or 80% tuition fees waved through scholarships etc. Are there also some business school that take into consideration GRE and not GMAT, since I already have GRE, some 2 years of experience in IT sector? Would somebody recommend maybe specialized MS over MBA and why? Thanks! D. |

Hi, the selection of programs you are considering is a good choice. Even though costs are very high for the good programs, I agree, I strongly andvise you to go for those and not take a cheap MBA instead. Cheap MBAs are not worth much on the international market, the investment will prbabaly not pay back.Sat Apr 05, 2008 01:29 PM Best would be to achieve a scholarships. Which country are you from exactly, is it part of the European Union? How are your academic performances so far? The better you are, the easier you can get hold of a scholarship.. |

GRE (or General Record Examinations) is a test especially required by American universities. It's intended to check one's literacy, numeracy, verbal reasoning, etc, and is often necessary before they'll consider taking on a foreign student. A friend of mine from England had to take it before he was allowed to start his PhD programme in California, even though he had every other possible qualification he should have needed and more. Needless to say, the test is far from perfect, and success depends as much on knowing the format and what's expected as anything else. Anyone taking the GRE should consider buying one of the many practice books there are out there first.

So the GRE cannot be compared to a GMAT I guess, and will most likely not replace GMAT in the near future? Sun Apr 06, 2008 04:00 PM I ask this because when googling GRE I found some discussion in that sense, besides the post of our friend above. [Edited 06 Apr 2008 by a_mukerjee] |

Hi there, Sun Apr 06, 2008 10:21 PM I'm originally from Croatia, which will be in EU by 2009/2010 etc. am not sure precisely. For now it's EU candidate. Well, I have seen some scholarships for Central and Eastern Region, but will have to check more schools on this topic. I haven't match too many schools, I only know I would like to consider Spain, France, Swiss etc. UK seems really expensive so I'm not sure. GRE as mentioned, became only recently an alternative to GMAT for some top US schools as of I heard. I know MIT, Stanford GSB etc. and many other business schools are taking GRE as well. I heard some European schools will take GRE as well. I did GRE before, so that would reduce some hassle with taking new exam. Cheers |
