I would like to hear about your experience at Leicester University. Did you apply for the distance learning MBA course? How satisfied are you that that course?

I am also looking at Leicester's distance learning MBA course and would like to hear from current students about their satisfaction/concerns.

I am still looking around. Warwick, Liverpool, Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University and Leicester in the UK and University of Phoenix in the US seem to offer good distance learning programmes. I am yet to receive any feedback from former students though. Where are you at?

hi, I haven't been around for a while.
I live in Armenia.
I was mainly focusing on getting first hand information from the universities. I finally narrowed down to two universities: Leicester and University of Bradford. I have no luck with getting in touch with current students in the U of Leicester through their admissions office, but I think the best workaround would be to talk to some people directly in U of Leicester's distant Learning MBA group in Facebook.
Are you from UK or abroad?

I am in Australia. Bradford should be OK. Warwick and Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt also come highly recommended.

ok. I don't think I will be able to raise enough funds for Warwick, so I am not even considering them. I guess in my final list I will keep Leicester, Bradford and University of Liverpool (though i suddenly discovered a "University of Liverpool" in The Netherlands -- I wonder if it's something to be careful about). Actually, in U of Liverpool they offered their MSc in Management as an alternative to their online MBA.
did you already apply?

I am still raising funds. Considering reputation for distance learning and fees to be paid, Leicester and Edinburgh are my top two choices. I concur with you, Warwick is rather expensive, but overall it's a good institution. The University of Liverpool in the Netherlands is the same as the UK Liverpool, just that they use a company from the Netherlands that specialises in educational software. I had a chat with one of the course coordinators, but like Warwick the costs are a bit on the higher side.

I took a look at Edinburg's Heriot-Watt University. The only thing that looked attractive was the differentiated, and possibly lower tuition fee for me, but there was no specifics there and I could not find out exactly which countries may get lower tuition fees or which part of the tuition will be exempt. The university also didn't have any independent accreditation. GOOD UNIVERSITY GUIDE 2009 places Heriot-Watt 46th, whereas Leicester is 18th there. extras.timesonline.co.uk/tol_gug/gooduniversitygui…

Bradford, Liverpool and Leicester are those where I will apply and I will pray to win a lottery to accept Liverpool's offer (at least the recruitment specialist with whom I talked to the phone was quite sure I will have no issues after he looked at my past diploma and current resume). Bradford is another option, but I plan to talk to them next week.

Good luck in raising funds, if things go the way they are, I will be able to fund my course in Leicester, and probably, with help of some loans, in Bradford. I am looking at autumn start by the way.

Dear Leicester

When you interview for jobs and say you have an MBA, the next question usually is where did you do your MBA and is it accredited. Watch the reaction when you say, I did it online. It may say MBA, but you would be better buying your MBA of e bay and reading the books they offer you because you will not get the actual face to face experience with your peers and different nationalities who attend a school. You can if you feel that you are a strong candidate get so much help and maybe scholarships paying the full amount, but many people are lazy to do the research around this area and also scared to negotiate. Just be aware, that online studies are seen so much weaker than attending a school in person.

Hi

Firstly I think the abilities if very important

Secondly, it depends on everyone regarding the budget no matter of who finance (employee or employer) because employer will ask every dollar back

Regarding the form of education full-time, part-time, distance learning, online, etc I think it is important what you deliver in the real world because I don't think that everyone can make Harvard Business School or London Business School full time method and in the end, some people can make big mistakes in the business no matter of the business school

I saw people in multinational companies with a well-known Business School and this guy "produced" big losses to that company

In other words, it is a problem of matching between personal objectives and personal budget, and every employer will make individual assessment background/education

I have done my MBA through distance learning, although it is from an accredited university and it has the same worth as a campus based MBA degree has but still during degree completion tenure I felt that I have missed out a lot of practical experience instructions given by campus professors and lecturers.

But still i believe is viable source of learning, specially in this age, when people are moving towards the technological advancements, online education is a very constructive step as online degree programs will generally provide more freedom to the students than traditional schools degree programs in terms of that online schools or colleges offer an online curriculum and give students the chance to work on their own from anywhere in the world, all they need is a computer and an internet connection. More over distance learning courses can offer pay-as-you-go classes, and students benefit from remote learning that cuts down on gasoline costs, student housing and student dining costs, the online learner must be able to invest in appropriate technology and accessories that make online learning possible.
