MBA from HKUST, can it get me there?

hello, im really interested in this MBA and opportunities with this diploma in hand. with competition and costs so high for top American and European MBAs, what is a talented Indian as myself to do? I realize most of good buzz for HKUST come from the EMBA level teachings, but full time MBA program seems to have solid reputation and good placements as well. any advice ? thank you

Well, you ask "can it get me there?" - to get an answer, first of all, you should clarify "where"... Where do you want to be after MBA?

Well known financial services firm, preferably investment banking house (sales trading or research)

I appreciate your response

I looked at the placement figures. Not bad is my initial thought. Take into consideration low tax rate in Hong Kong, as well as initial costs of only about $32,000 for this MBA, and one year of lost wages. Seems that it is good value for your money. Depending on how much one makes the difference is anywhere from $100,000 and up compared to 2 year programs in the US and EU. work prospects in Hong Kong seem to be better as well.

My thoughts are that this MBA can "get you there" if one is willing to work in Hong Kong-Asia post graduation.

Is HKUST second best in Asian placements following Insead Singapore campus? what are their strengths? Heard from someone who visited them that MBA career office is headed by brilliant Stanford MBA alum who is well connected in HK. Can someone comment please?

That's true - the director of our career services is a Stanford MBA, a brilliant person. I am not sure if she is a well-connected (I think she is, but this is not what career services actually do), but her advice in career planning is extremely valuable. If you have any problems with career, she is the person to talk to.

Hkust is now bonafide top 20. Both Economist and FT confirm it. Not sure for the rest of Asia but high profile Indian students are now looking at hkust as clear back up to Insead.
