MBA in Russia but how?
Hi everyone,Wed Oct 31, 2007 02:18 PM I am new at this site and I just wonder something. I am from Istanbul,Turkey and I've graduated from Mechanical Engineering. I want to have an MBA degree,and I decided to get this degree in Russia.But I don't know anything about universities and my budget is very limited.I've searched some of the universities (teaching in English of course) and found out that they are very very expensive for me. What should I do? Money is everything? And a question...I have 1 years working experience,is it a problem? Thanks for your all replies... Tahir YILDIZ |

Sorry, I did not see that...Wed Oct 31, 2007 08:04 PM Anyway, have you thought of getting some more work experience before you apply for your MBA? Many posters on this board continuously repeat the importance of some years of work experience. |

Hi there, Fri Nov 02, 2007 03:25 PM In Europe it will be difficult without work experience of at least 3 y. It is the whole concept of MBA there. It's less strict in US b schools, and even lesser in Asia. Maybe you should try your luck there? Attiya |

Why don't you go for a MIM then? There you won't need any work experience ususally. Fri Nov 16, 2007 11:39 AM As I said, the European model is: MBA for people with work exp. Therefore, if a school does not insist on this condition, it is a bad sign, and means probably that they are not good enough to attract enough students and need to accept any one to have the program working. That means then that you waste a lot of money on a bad degree.. |

I just read again your first post, that you'd prefer to study in Russia. I can't give you any advise there, but maybe you can find a cheap program with no need for work exp. Do you speak Russian? English options in Russia w/ approximate costs include:Tue Jun 10, 2008 07:59 AM University of Touro - $12,000 AIBEC - $15,000 American University of Bus & Admin - 8700 Euro Indiana Wesleyan University (GHP) - $12,500 There are additional Russian with English options, but these are the only English only options I am aware of in Moscow. Thanks for that imput!Wed Jun 11, 2008 05:15 PM So it seems that tuition is relatively low. On the other hand those MBAs will not be known to recruiters outside of Russia, at least I have not heard the names of those schools. Is one them ranked in a good ranking maybe? I am curious to know how such an MBA will facilitate your career inside Russia as a foreigner, do you know something about this, bebacksoon? |

Yes, outside of the Russian market, most of these are not known. However, Indiana Wesleyan U. is ranked in U.S. News and World Reports both for 2007 and 2008. With a new offering they are making in partnership with VLC globally, they will, I am confident, see this ranking and reputation increase appreciably in the years to come.

If you wish to work outside of Russia, internationally, or for an international company, you should definitely attend a school with international accreditation. You'll find a list of Russian MBAs here: www.find-mba.com/russia I suppose that other costs differ very much from onte place to another. I know that Moscow is very expensive in some aspects, especially for living, other costs can be quite low. If you are ready for compromises, you can survive not spending too much. |

Also, you will feel more mature abot your decision and your candidature will be more regarded by business schools. As for countries, there are BS around the globe, but I would focus on the top 50 for instance, international schools where you will learn quality and your curriculum wil be improved by good education. |
