MBA in Germany

Originally I am from Germany, but have lived the last 8 years in the U.S. and have recently finished my degree in Business Economics at a University of California. I am bilingual and I have close ties to both counties. Now I am planning on doing my Master in Germany, but it is difficult to find a school which is relatively cheap and internationally accredited/recognized. If I do my Master in Germany I want it to be easy for me to find a good job in the U.S. as well. The HHL graduate school in Leipzig sounds good, but it is expensive. The positive side is that it is internationally accredited by AACSB, as well as University of Mannheim and WHU's MBA's (which are also very expensive Universities). Mostly I am looking for Universities in bigger cities such as Berlin or Leipzig. The FHW international management MBA degree interests me a lot, but even though it is FIBAA accredited I don't think it is a really internationally recognized school. Would I be able to find a good job in the U.S. with an MBA from this school or a public school like Hamburg University? Does anyone have further information on that?

If you really want to do an MBA in Europe you should look at internationally known programs like INSEAD, IESE, LBS. I would only consider doing an MBA in Germany if you can't afford one of the top programs or you can't get into such a program or you really want to stay in Germany for personal reasons or your career is not so important to you. None of the German MBA programs is known in the US. WHU is probably the most reputed program of the ones you mentioned. There are two more programs you might consider: TiasNimbas (fully accredited, ranked: see www.tiasnimbas.edu/uploads/documents/275.pdf) and ESMT. HHL is the only German B-School ranked in the new global America Economia (30th): www.americaeconomia.com/PLT_WRITE-PAGE~SessionId~~… WHU is strong in the field of executive education. The WHU/Kellogg EMBA has a top rating, ranked 13th globally by the FT: rankings.ft.com/emba-rankings . If you are looking for an MBA in a bigger city, WHU is not the right place. It is located in Vallendar in the middle of nowhere. The next bigger city is Koblenz, which is not exactly a metropolis. The landscape around Koblenz is very beautiful though: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koblenz Personally, I would opt for an MBA in Berlin, because it's currently one of the most exciting cities in Europe. ESMT is expanding and has just hired seven more renowned professors: idw-online.de/pages/de/news213728 . It was founded only 5 years ago by a consortium including 25 major German companies and is expected to appear in the international rankings within the next years. Let's see.

Frank Faberge Joined: 17 Dec 2007 Posts: 1	MBA in Germany Tue Dec 18, 2007 12:35 AM Hi there, I am about to send my application to a German MBA, but I wanted to enquire within the community to check whether that incredible news was true or not! I have recently been told that a student has just left HHL in Leipzig one month after the beginning of the class.... He was indeed American/German and had been accepted to the full time MBA without any GMAT. As a matter of fact, HHL seems to run out of applicants to their full time program and would be ready to accept whoever - without GMAT (he was not the only one in that situation) - in their MBA.....two years ago, the MBA program in Leipzig was 45-50 students, and now they are under 25...To the contrary of their Diplom-Kaufmann Program, their MBA, albeit accredited, seems to be absolutely non competitive! Can anybody provide me some information about all that? I wouldn't want to send my application to a declining school! Thanks a lot Guys!
