MBA without work experience
Hello Everybody/All,Mon Sep 24, 2007 09:52 AM at the moment i am very confused. There are a lot of MBA programmes in London, but every university requires work experience. At the moment i am studying Business Information Technology in Frankfurt and 2008 i will get my bachelor of science. After that i aim to do my master in london! I was not able to find an mba programme for international students without work experience! Do you know some mba programmes in UK/London, which requires no work experince? Please help me, i am desperated! Contact me: ilyas.atas@yahoo.de |

MBA without work experience
Hi Ilyas, Fri Sep 28, 2007 02:18 PM This is a common error bachelor students do: An MBA is a program specially conceived for people WITH work experience. It takes into account the practical experience of the students, and the fact that they have a far clearer idea on what they want, and which knowledge they still need to get. If you want to go on studying right away, why don't you go for a Master program, which is not an MBA? |

Hi Ilyas,Thu Oct 11, 2007 06:44 AM In the UK, MBA means post-experience. There are countries (India for example) where MBA s are overwhelmingly taken as a course immediately after the first degree, whithout work expeirence. In the UK, you would want to do an MSc in Management. They often contain a similar syllabus as an MBA but delivered in a manner that is suitable for pre-experience students. At Warwick Business School, for example, you can take their MSc without experience. If, after some years of work experience, you want to do their MBA then you get some exemptions from courses (and a discount on fees). |

That's interesting - so an MBA has a different meaning in the Indian system. But how about the B schools with an internationally reputation, such as the IMM Ahmedabad, don't they ask for work experience?Wed Oct 17, 2007 04:31 PM Anyways, I agree with the above post, your intention was to do an MBA, best option would be an Msc in Management. |

Sorry I don't agree with you beacause am doing MBA in the UK and I have no work experience. Sun Nov 18, 2007 08:47 PM When I was applying I faced the same problem which Ilyas is facing it now but finally I got an acceptance. In my oppinion it's not essintial at all to have experience speacially for candinates who have done their BA or BSc in a related subject. There are some universities and collages which do not require work experiance ,you can check through this website www.educationuk.org |

Sure, you can find schools accepting you without MBA, but the top schools don't. I'm always suspicious, at least in Europe, when a school is less demanding on work experience - I always think they might not get enough applications therefore they soften their entry conditions.Tue Nov 20, 2007 03:19 PM Anyways, in Europe MBA is generally conceived for you professionals with some work experience, why would otherwise LSE, IE, Inseas or RSM ask for some years of work experience?? They certainly have a reason. |

There seems to be some difference between Europe and the US in this respect. In the US there is a larger percentage of students with little or no work experience. If you have excellent academic records, schools won't be as strict in terms of the work experience required. You may want to check this thread:Wed Nov 21, 2007 11:02 AM www.find-mba.com/board/4593 |

hey guys,Wed Nov 12, 2008 01:01 PM well i have done my bsc. honors in textiles and at that time i planned to do my mba after getting some work experience but unfortunatley due to some family problem... i quit after working for 6 months in one company after that i continued my job in other company after 3 months, the company was shifted to dubai while was there for only 3 months and i had to lose my job again.. now i palnned to do my mba first and then start of with my professional life. but after searching i saw that good b schools in both us and uk require atleast 2 years of experience... i am trap now as i want to study in some good school an dmy total experience is just 6 month as my later company did not even gave me any experience certificate...to show up... i am confuse as what to do.. Even i tried LUMS they also rejected me because of little W.Exp.. What should i do. Need your Valuable advises.. |

It sounds to me like the best - perhaps the only - thing you can do it try and get more work experience. I know there are MBA programmes out there which don't require any experience, but I, and, I think, most people on here, don't rate them. Much better to do what you need to do to qualify for a reputable programme at a reputable school.
