Actually I am looking for MBA course, and one of the few interesting for me is at the London School of Business and Finance. Does anyone know something about this school ? Mon Mar 26, 2007 10:37 PM Is it good , when school doesn`t have its own accreditation but shares it with other, probably better university ? |

All I can say is that GGSB, which seems to be the partner you refer to, is a top school in France. However, I have never heard about that London School of Business and Finance.Wed Mar 28, 2007 05:05 AM I would contact GGSB to find out more about what kind of co-operation that is. |

LSBF is a school normally known for its Accounting education rather then its Masters Programs. Its a popular school foreign students who wish to study ACCA or CIMA programs in London. Their MIB ( Masters in International Business) is awarded by the GGSB. According to their website, their MBA is also awarded by GGSB. Thu Jul 10, 2008 11:34 PM In that case, the argument is simple, if you want a good MBA, why not go to GGSB directly rather then going to LSBF that merely teaches the program at their campus. Logic being that if GGSB was awarding the degree, wouldnt it hold more learning potential and weightage if it was gained at the GGSB campus rather then in London at LSBF. Btw... LSBF is not really known for its MBA program compared to other universities in London |

what do you mean that you are actually 'looking for both'? Do you mean you want to study at both places? Or that you want to do a dual programme MBA?

I think that the London Business School looks particulalry strong on dual programmes and it looks like it was the was the first UK institution to offer dual programmes combining MBA, MIB and MSc degrees with Professional Qualifications(ACCA, CIMA, CFA, and CIM) I suppose your decision must relate directly to your current experience and future career plan. What is your current position? What area of expertise would you want to specialise in?Sat Jul 12, 2008 01:00 PM For example, the MBA+CIMA programme’s combines the MBA’s business emphasis and CIMA’s financial focus. However, its worth noting that the dual MBA is going to be more demanding than a standard course, as you are basically undertaking two courses at the same time. That means taking another set of exams alongside the MBA. Obviously this is going to require more concentration, commitment and determination than studying the MBA alone. |

Guys ! Wait hold on...This is for the London School of Business and Finance. Let me explain you what I have on my plate at the moment , I have about close to 2.5 years of experience working with IBM in Supply Chain Operations/IT /Management and about couple of months into retail management in the Middle East i.e. Bahrain. I am looking at a dual degree that will lead me to a career change into Finance and a management degree that will give me a boost to my career. I do understand that I have to take both huge tasks to complete. But they say on the website that MBA will be completed first and then the additional specialization will be done at a later stage. Also I do hope that I have enough time to work part time to finance my living costs given the fact that UK is more expensive than India or the Middle East. Also looking at the new tier points system , after the completion of the degree I can switch tiers from Student (Tier 4) to Tier 1. That will also give me sufficient time to recover the loan taken from my home country as well.

Sounds like you have a fairly clear plan. It is difficult to study in London because of the enormous expense, so just make sure you're prepared for that. I know, from experience!Sun Jul 13, 2008 12:38 PM Good luck. |

sorry, cant give out my number, and as I said I'm no expert on the london School of Business & Finance. Sun Jul 13, 2008 01:21 PM Why not look here, on this website, where it is listed in the top 50 most popular UK programmes: www.find-mba.com/university/1453/london-school-of-… If I were you I would contact their admissions office with a list of serious questions. |

I guess this is what lukeh was referring to:Sun Jul 13, 2008 09:07 PM www.find-mba.com/most-popular/uk-ireland However, this is not really a ranking, but just a list of those programs with the most user views: www.find-mba.com/mba-faq#15 So if a school is ranked high that does not necessarily mean it good. Make sure the school is accredited by AACSB, AMBA or Equis. If not, think thrice. |

Hi Malia.Since the degree is coming from France ,base of the school. They are triple accredited. In my view this is just a center where the degree delivery takes place. They also offer MIB (Master of International Business) but i am not sure how far it is really worth to go for this.Mon Jul 14, 2008 06:07 AM If i get through I will definitely go for it , The GGSB websites relates something about getting a GMAT score however the LSBF does not mention at the website anything about GMAT score at all!!!. Not Sure why though but topping the MBA/MIB cream with CFA/ACCA/CIMA will definitely add more delight and flavour to the entire career. [Edited 14 Jul 2008 by sashcell] |

Can you please advice further by looking at the link. You'll notice that London Business School isn't on the dfes list either.... so what does that mean...? ;-) Its kind of weird how the school names are so similar isn't it? LBS / LSBF - slightly confusing for the market place. Does anyone actually know the school personally? |

JamieO,Though the degree comes from France in my research if you notice on the prospectus on the bottom-left it does state University of East London. This University is accredited. We need to ask the school if this is accredited by GGSB or by UEL.If accredited by UEL then it makes sense to go for it.By looking at the degree it does look really tough because you have to hit something similar to a proverb "Hitting two birds with a stone"
