I found out about HK UST from my affiliation with NYU and subsequent M.S. Global Finance program offered jointly by both schools. I am considering applying for it, and in the process of gathering info on HK UST I have heard only excellent things about it. Keep the information coming as I am sure there are many more people interested in undertaking graduate studies in Asia's best B-schools.

Hello.
HKUST sounds very interesting indeed, I'm considering applying there. Especially because I'm Asian, I think an MBA at HKUST would be a good idea, taking into account different aspects.
Same question as chen: What GMAT and TOEFL scored are needed??

hi iuri/chen

admission is very competitive. I do not know exactly what gmat/toefl score will get you in.

Submit applications and go from there, good interview/essays/recommendations can somewhat offset lower scores, also your work/life experience counts for a lot.
The more "diverse" you are the better as HK UST wants to keep its' #1 international experience ranking.

Hi copernicus,
but it would be great to have some sort of indication about GMAT score required. Ok, it won't be possible to say exactly with what score HKUST accepts me, but can you at least give some statistics about the average score among MBA students in HKUST enrolled now and in the past years?
That would be a great help! Thanks

The Mid 80% Gmat Range for Class '06 was 560-710.
Keeping in mind that, last 5 years, HK UST has been ranked #1 in the world in the international experience category, I am sure that that part of you applicaton will have much more weight than just a gmat score. So one can score above 700 and not even make the first cut, if all he/she did was stayed at home all their life, and one can score at the lower end, but have lived in few countries/speak different languages, etc. and be accepted.

Judging by your nickname "iuri" you probably speak Russian, which would be a huge plus in your application. On the flip side it is going to be harder for someone applying from within Asia, as that is where majority of the applicants come from.

On a sidenote, I have no doubt the GMAT scores at HK UST will be going up dramatically in the immediate future and getting in will be much tougher. The University is only 15 years old, and the last 2 years it has really gained in reputation worldwide, as people are looking for the best Asian MBA of the future. When it comes to Finance/Accounting HK UST is and will continue to be the Undisputed King of Asia. Arguably, they have a top 10 Finance/Acct departments in the World already.

Hello, thank you for the answer!
My name is misleading, actually I am from INdonesia where Yuri is quite common as a name (I just chose this uncommon speling with an i). Bad news what I read in your post, so for me as an Asian it will be tough to get accepted I undesrstand.

Anyways, I have to add a question: same here as chen's, I'm interested in MBA not EMBA, how is the MBA ranked, and is what you says valid for MBA too?

i will be attending the regular MBA with exchange to Columbia, Chicago or Berkeley most likely, so everything i say is regarding to this program.

It is toughest for students from Mainland China and Hong Kong to get in, Indonesia and the rest Asia you should be ok.

you should always apply to where you want to study.

people get discouraged by lower gmat scores, or what not, but in the end its the whole "you" thats applying and not just individual pieces of application.
