MBA 1Year Program US
Can someone please let me know, the top 1year MBA programs in US? I am aware of few of them in Canada / Europe. Please advice about the universities. Wed Feb 07, 2007 01:17 AM And I would like to know the specific MBA program (Marketing, Finance, IM etc.), which has a higher value in the 1 year program (US university). Appreciate your response. |

I would sayWed Feb 07, 2007 06:01 PM - Northwestern (Kellogg) - UCLA (Anderson) - Michigan (Ross) - Cornell (Johnson) - Indiana Bloomington (Kelley) - USC (Marshall) - Thunderbird (Garvin) (in that order). Did I miss any? |

Hi LaVoz De Galicia,Wed Feb 07, 2007 10:21 PM Appreciate your response, can you also tell me the average work exp & gmat scores these schools may need. And one more question, do we specialize in a 1 yr program or do we take on all requisite courses from all facets i.e. marketing, finance, international management etc. Thanks again for your response. |

Hello. I was looking for that information concerning USC, but couldn't find any average. What I know is that USC requires a minimun 2 years work experience, and that there are no numerical cutoffs for either the GMAT or GPA. Of course it would be very interesting to know the avarage, if you find out please share.

Tue Feb 20, 2007 04:13 PM I would say only Northwestern offers 1 yr MBA from that list. Outside of Northwestern the best 1 yr MBA in the USA is University of Florida. The school just got $60 million ($30 Millon gift + state matching funds) to build new business building. www.cba.ufl.edu/programs/ |

That's not correct. All of them do offer special one-year MBA programs (except Kelley). Check the links below: www.anderson.ucla.edu/x9715.xml www.bus.umich.edu/Academics/GMBA/AnnArbor/default.… www.johnson.cornell.edu/academic/accelerated/ www.marshall.usc.edu/web/IBEARMBA.cfm?doc_id=1635 www.thunderbird.edu/prospective_students/ft_degree… Best, LaVoz |

Actually, after checking the website again I found out that Anderson does not offer a one-year MBA either... The maximum acceleration would allow for the program to complete in 27 months.

The maximum acceleration would allow for the program to complete in 27 months. cornell 12 months is only for engineers(somebody with M.S is science) thunderbird is 15 months USC and Michigan are both Executive education programs requiring at least 5 years in high level managerial positions. Thes programs are for select few only. Value for the money University of Florida still your best bet [Edited 23 Feb 2007 by jcohen] |

Your last comments about University of Florida sound really enthusiastic. Are you in some way affiliated with that school?

Anyone heard of the MBA at DePaul University Chicago? I just saw that it is a 1-year program too. What's it worth?

Besides, USD has a full-time MBA which can be completed in 12 or 15 months.

Is your response to DePaul University Chicago MBA program? Tue Mar 13, 2007 04:53 PM So from the replies so far, is FL a better university for MBA online? One more question, what if you can't relocate or move to another state to pursue MBA. Which online MBA programs (1yr) would you all recommend? |

MBA 1 Year Program US
If you don't have an undergrad in business, then your chances of doing a 1 year MBA in NY are slim and none (possible, but highly improbable). Unless a particular program is specifically structured to condense all the core, advanced requisites, and electives in 4-6 standard academic terms (inclusive of summer semesters), then it's not advisable let alone feasible to pursue such an option.Thu Mar 15, 2007 08:58 PM You and Adriana_Garcia may want to take a nice look at the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business. Now, this is how a 1 year MBA program should be properly structured: www.katz.pitt.edu/mba_oneyear.html [Edited 15 Mar 2007 by G3XL] |

Thanks for that evaluation. I was just wondering if the 1-year formula would be an option, since it's less costs and easier to combine with my job. But when I read your comment, it doesn't seem a good idea at all.Fri Mar 16, 2007 11:44 AM Anyways, my first priority is to study in NY, I'll just skip the 1 year idea - and have a look at the longer programs only. |

Hi Sweta,Wed Apr 04, 2007 02:32 PM sorry to be blunt, but with your profile (bachelor, no working experience) you won't be accepted in the top MBA programs anyways. What about finishing your studies, working for a couple of years and then think about an MBA? I think that's a better idea! [Edited 04 Apr 2007 by masterXX] |

1 yr MBA program
Hi,Fri May 11, 2007 02:56 PM I'm a software professional with 5 yrs of work experience. I would like to do MBA, but I'm confused about various options avaliable. Is it good to do 1 yr MBA course. I'm working on L1 visa on US. What about professional MBA (part time)? If I do professional MBA, would I be eligible to apply for H1 visa under students quota. Please let me know. |

1 yr MBA program
Hi priya,Sat May 12, 2007 03:48 PM I would say that it doesn't make such a difference afterwards which type of an MBA you did, 1-year full-time or part-time. Other aspects are a lot more important, such as name and reputation of the B school, and the networking you manage to do during your studies, business contacts, and job prospects. The question which type of MBA has a lot more to do with your financial capacity - part time option helps if you don't have enough cash right now to finance you MBA.... Many students are in this case of course, since it is a big investment to do an MBA. This is just my point of view. |

1 yr MBA program
Thanks a lot for your response. I know that students doing full time MBA are eligible for getting H1B visa under students quota. Will I be eligible for applying H1B visa under students quota if I do part time MBA? Please let me know.Sun May 13, 2007 02:02 PM Should I also appear for GMAT and TOFFEL exams even for part time MBA programs? |

1 yr MBA program
A part-time MBA is a regular MBA, the admission procedure will the similar as for a full-time MBA, and not be affected by the question of length and intensity of the program. In general, in the US you'll have to present your GMAT as TOEFEL results for your application.Mon May 14, 2007 12:09 PM But you should check every program indivually to get a clear picture about the application requirements. Every school has it's owen way. As for your visa questions, I don't know those details. I'm afraid I can't help you here. |
