Do you mean Bradford or Nimbas? I read a couple of rankings and Bradford/Nimbas are usually within the top 100 as far as I remember. Nimbas does a lot of advertising in magazines such as the Economist, so many business people will know the "brand". I haven't hear anything specific about Aston, but it is placed in 36 position in the Economist ranking: mba.eiu.com/index.asp?layout=2002rankings&rank_cat… -- slightly ahead of Nimbas (57) and well ahead of Bradford (84).

Thanks a lot for your reply. I meant Bradford University in Bradford UK. U r right, Economist places Aston ahead of Bradford, but Aston does'nt show-up in FT rankings. Moreover do u have any idea on latest HSMP list of universities for the current year? I know Bradford figured in the list last year. Normally Home office treasury releases the list annually. But the treasury site's not opening up at all. Aston's +ves are "triple accreditation", "Birmingham location", "Economist rankings". Bradford's +ves are "FT65", "HSMP MBA listing", "Great electives". So not much to choose between two...

Well actually even I am having similar confusion. I have also secured admits to Aston,Bradford and lancaster and am deciding between Aston and Bradford. What inputs I got till give indicate Aston to be a better MBA from course perspective and good industry links (essential post MBA). Bradford is surely listed in HSMP list but I feel the HSMP points -75 , can also be made without using the MBA provision.

Let me also know if you have some other viewpoint.

I have secured admits to Aston and Bradford for september 2008. I am confused between the two. Some advise me for Aston, as there will be better job prospects as it is in the city, whereas for Bradford the only advantage is HSMP points. Have anyone of you finally accepted Aston or Bradford? What about the final project? Is it within the university or in an industry?

I have an offer from Aston for the 2008 Sep MBA course. I am waiting for information from other schools like EM Lyon, Strathclyde and Warwick. But from the information that I have gathered, Aston seems to be better on the rankings and their industry links. The only other school better than Aston in the rankings is the Warwick Business School.

I have to say, if I had the choice between Bradford and Birmingham, I'd choose Birmingham every time.

hey,
I also got admission from both the university aston and bradford for sept 2008.
let me know which one u select.
my name is deep- 9810904848.

FOr your information, there is a possibility that all HSMP university list effective 1st april would be cancelled.

and post mba you will get work permit for 2yrs instead of 1 yr.
lets all keep our fingers crossed.

anyways do let me know which university u decide aston or bradford.
as of now what i have read , i think Aston seems to be better option.

i also have received admission to aston and bradford, as well as nottingham and oxford brookes. i havent yet heard from cass in london. I am quite stumped at the moment regarding my final decision. Right now, I seem torn between Notts and Aston, while I await the decision from Cass. Can anybody with a good frame of reference weigh in?
Thanks

Notts ranks 76 in Europe according to the FT rankings index for 2008 (up from 93 in 2007), and Bradford 53 (up 17 places from 2007). Aston and Brookes aren't in the top 100. Cass is at 41, so it obviously comes out best rankings-wise. In terms of financial considerations, London is much more expensive to live in than any of the others, but you may feel this outweighed by the potential benefits - professional and otherwise - of being in one of the world's leading financial and cultural centres.

i saw the same list - although on the Euro list, Aston and Bradford come in higher than Notts... I don't know if I can live in Bradford... I can't even live in Leeds.. I was born/raised in Los Angeles, and have lived in NY for the past few years... I need at least half a million people around me in order to function.

Ha! Tru dat. In which case I'd say Bradford is definitely out. London seems the best option. Maybe you could also have a look at Manchester?

Yea I don't know why I didn't apply to Manchester. I applied to cass, notts, oxford brookes, ashridge, aston, royal holloway, kent, bradford, birmingham and kingston. I sort of like the idea of living in birmingham, since I've been to london a billion times. I might be nice to know a major euro city that itsn't the capital...But I am still waiting to hear from cass, and if I get in then I'll just have visit bham some day...

Hi Shveta,

Without wishing to comment on their respective MBA programmes, I think you should think carefully about what Bath and Durham are like as places to live. I come from the South West (Bath, in fact), so I'm probably horribly biased, but I would still prefer to be in Bath than Durham (having spent some time there as well). Durham is a very pretty, very nice town (and not far from Newcastle), but I personally would find it too small and a little bit boring. Bath is a bit bigger, has Bristol on its doorstep, and is only an hour and half away from London. As I say, this is just a personal opinion which doesn't take individual programmes into account, but its something to keep in mind.

Hi Shveta,
I have not yet decided, as at this point, I have admission to Aston, Nottingham, Birmingham, Ashridge, Kent, Oxford Brookes, and Bradford. I am waiting to hear from CASS, Royal Holloway and Kingston. I would love to go to Cass. If I gain admission, its off to City of London for me! If not, I should be happy enough to decide between Aston and Nottingham. Although, I think I may lean toward Aston, given its location in the center of the UK's second city. My primary focus is world wide reputation/accreditation and location. Larger cities might afford me access to larger networks and better business opportunities. That's been my experience so far, living in Los Angeles and New York. I'd love any advice anyone can spare. Cheers... Kelly

In addition to the schools you have mentioned above, I would like you to bring Leicester(Full time MBA) and Southampton. How do they compare in terms of employability and value for money. Can one easily get a job after graduating under the HSMP, using other criteria to gain the required points for HSMP?

I would appreciate your advise

The site doesn't however talk about the University ratings which I wanted to find out about. Kindly help me with the standing of Leicester and Southampton. How do they compare with say Aston or Bradford?

If you want the rankings, your best bet is to go to:
www.ft.com (Aston is 27 in Europe, Bradford 32, Leicester and Southampton aren't in the top 100 for 2007)

or the Economist.com. Aston ranks 54th in Europe, Bradford 93, and again neither Leicester nor Southampton appear in the table.
