Need help regarding digital strategic planning!!
Hi,Wed Feb 29, 2012 07:07 PM Few years back I completed my Bachelors in Mass Media and then went on to do a post-grad certificate program in creative communication from MICA, Ahmedabad, specializing in Art visualization. There after I joined a main stream ad agency as creative associate-art and worked for 1 1/2 yrs. Now I want to make a shift to digital media, strategic planning, and make that lateral shift from creative to strategy as I have heard that the packages and prospects are better in strategy planning and digital is the future. Now my concern is whether should I do a MBA or join a digital agency and work in strategy as intern. Is there some MBA that covers marketing/planning in digital space in India/Abroad. Also if I could do a part-time MBA and work, as I'm fairly new to digital media. |

Get a job. Anything you learn about digital strategies will be out of date by the time you graduate. An regular MBA, taken after some work experience, in management will give you skills that will be valid for life.

I'd have to disagree with Duncan. An MBA with a concentration in digital media or marketing would provide a good base in this quickly-changing field, and give you hands-on training in current developments that would allow you to adapt to changes in the future.Thu Mar 01, 2012 04:31 PM There's a new concentration in digital marketing at NYU/Stern you might want to check out. Also, have a look at Dartmouth/Tuck - they have the well-regarded center for digital strategies that would be a great resource. There are also smaller, shorter courses you could look into if you don't want to commit to a full-on MBA. Columbia's executive education center has courses in digital marketing strategy, which are based on current research there. And Rutgers offers one of its mini-MBAs in digital marketing. |

Big blue, this person has worked for 1.5 years. Tuck and Stern are not available to him. Only MBAs without respected accreditation will recruit him. He should get a job and then take a serious MBA.

I should have been more clear: if this person were to remain in his current job for another half-year and have 2 years of work experience, then he'll be able to apply. I mean, he'll need that time anyway to prep and take the GMAT and research his options at the very least.Fri Mar 02, 2012 03:47 PM Big blue, this person has worked for 1.5 years. Well, how many students come into Tuck or Stern with the bare minimum of work experience?
