Thank you James, you are always so helpful - and this is exactly the kind of idea you don't have yourself when you start looking for an MBA!

Kata, me again here. I met Empresa and Esade ppl over a fair in Singapore, and i am impressed by both.
just FYI, Empresa and IESE among top 50 MBA providers whose graduates can automatically work in the U.K. for a period 12 months after graduation. it's UK's Highly Skilled Migrant workers' Program.
EADA and ESADE are not. If you are interested in working in the U.K., you may want to consider this. Hope this helps

That's an interesting information Noya! Even though I did not consider to work in UK until now, but that could be a great possibility to enter European business world.
I've seen on the ESADE website that they do a lot of information sessions, did you already go to Spain to check ou the schools directly?

Interesting news Noya.

This is the list of the schools www.hsmp-uk.com/hsmp-mba-graduates-provision.asp but also read the details to get the other points for the working permit, is not just MBA.

yes james, thanks for clarifying. you're right, but 75 points (if you graduate from those 50 mba programs) almost ensure your points will exceed minimum required points :)

Kata, nope, i haven't been to spain (and may not be). guess i better save the money for tuition and rely on you guys who can afford going there :) cheers

visit schools beforehand

Hello Noya, I have never been to Spain before either (but to Europe yes).
But I guess it's a lot easier for us to travel to Spain, moneywise, and as well because there will always be a friend or aquaintance where I can stay, and there must be less Indonesians in Spain than Venezuelans...

Hi Noya, Hi Katalina,

I guess you will like spain and you will see which party you will Join, the Madrid or the Barcelona one.

You will not have any doubt when visiting the two cities, you will immediately feel which one is yours and then probably also the school decision will be affected, but is very normal.

All the best

EADA Questions
Thu Dec 14, 2006 07:22 PM
Hi, I have been reading the forums about EADA. Lots of interesting information. I am interested in the international MBA program and planning to attend the Open Day in February. For those of you who already went, can you tell some more details about the entrance exam? Was it like GMAT or easier/harder? Can you review for it in advance? What kind of interview did you have with the director? Also, what do you think of doing an MBA in EADA if you might be working later in the US? What kind of job network and career assistance does the school offer, especially for those of us who do not belong to the EU, working and visas are a big problem...
Thanks!

EADA Questions

Hi Kata,
I'm from the US, but am looking to live/work in Spain/Europe for a few years. I have been to Barcelona before and loved the city, that's why I'd like to go back if I can find a good + affordable mba program. Just keeping my options open at this point...

EADA Questions
Thu Dec 21, 2006 11:36 AM
This is what I know:

The test in EADA is easier than GMAT, but the interview with the director is quite tough and unpredictable, lots of open question about situation you have to give a solution or point of view (two friends of mine reference).

Concerning working in the US I guess that ESADE is more connected with US companies because it has been working a lot on it in the last few years, EADA had less US students from US, but those which are back, and not only US citizens have found excelent jobs, I am sure in the school they can give you all the details.

Networking is well organised with several formal and informal events between students and former students in Barcelona. Abroad is periodically organised a meeting in the countries where a big group of former student is present. Career service offers information, promotes your CV.

Sincerely the last two points, network and career service are more or less the same in all the schools. If you are good and proactive you will find what you want.

Regards

ESADE Question

Hi Katalina,

I have unfortunately no idea if in ESADE they make their own test, all the people I know have gone through the GMAT.

So when are you planning your visit to Barcelona?
Good luck and also happy new year.

ESADE Question
Thu Jan 11, 2007 03:57 PM
Hello James,
I was planning to come in April, but right now nothing is clear anymore. I might have to postpone my MBA studies for another year, for personal reasons. Same as my journey to investigate which school to go to.
But I see the poisitive side of it too, I have more time to gather all the information and make the right choice.

Anyway Katalina, do not postpone that much your choice or you will not do that anymore. Think also in the option of making tye MBA in your own country, you have a good school to do it.

Time for the MBA

Hello James, you mean I could study at IESA too? That's true, but I'd be so disappointed to miss this opportunity of studying abroad. You are right, I have to be careful to stick to my plan. I think it will be such an important experience, not only for my CV but also on a personal level. No, I won't give up that plan!
Saludos, Kata

Time for the MBA
Tue Jan 30, 2007 09:04 AM
Hi Katalina,

Remember that now also MBA Part Time in another country are an option, a more risky one, but still an option.

I mean that if you do an MBA Part Time, you have time to work, or to find an internship if you have no working permit, but you can at lkeast pay the rent with the salary and at the end you have an MBA and you have a had a work experience.

I hope this could help

Thanks, James, the part time option is a good idea. Do you know how I can do to get a working permit while studying in Spain? Is that difficult for Venezuelans?

Hi Katalina,

Any MBA Student in Spain is entitled to do an internship in a company for the all period of the programme. ESADE and EADA have lots of experience in this, write to them.

Bye

Thanks James, is that the only thing I can get, a permit for an intern? No real working permit? I was afraid so. But of course, I will ask the schools directly.

Hi James, I'm from Indonesia and I was wondering, if those rules concerning working permit would be same for all non Europeans, will they apply to me as well?
Thank you very much in advance.

These rules apply to worldwide citizens, everyone which enrolls in a Master programme has the right of doing an internship.

Oh really? I thought Spain had some special agreements with Latin American countries on working permit. Thanks for that info James!
What about working? I know that in Germany I'd be allowed as a Indonesian citizen to work and earn money, as long as I'm a student. Is that the same in Spain?

I guess that Germany and Spain have the same rules, being part of the Schengen scheme.
But remember that internships are not real works, are normally focused to people recently graduated from university, so it is really up to you the way the company will welcome you or not.

In the meantime spanish schools are growing and growing in the rankings, there are now 4 spanish schools in the Economist and Financial Times rankings, ESADE, IESE, IE and EADA.
