I am looking to MBA in Germany next year. Anybody know a good programm that is not so expennsive? I also speak some German. Thank you Dumitru

If you are looking for a cheaper option and do speak German, you might want to consider enrolling at one of the numerous Fachhochschulen. Courses there are usually English and German mixed (more German than English though). However, if you are planning to go abroad afterwards, you should choose differently. ESMT, and other purely English taught schools would then be a better choice (but more expensive).

hi, I'm interested in ESMT. Since it has a close tie with those German blue chip corporations. I'm from china. I want to find a job in Germany after I finish my MBA. Does ESMT fit me?

I am from Germany myself and I have heard good things about the ESMT. I guess if you are fluent in German after your MBA year you will be quite interesting for German multinationals with a stake in China such as Siemens, Volkswagen, Bayer. I know that EMST are actively trying to target Chinese applicants and that there is a co-operation with the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University: www.esmt.org/en/104068

Thanks for your answer. Actually, I talked with the dean of the esmt at the MBA tour at shanghai last week. I'm interested in esmt's background. But I have two major concerns: First, it seems MBA gains little recognition in Germany. Since the tuition fee is so high, would the degree be worthy of the price. If I can not get a job offer in Germany after graduation, it will be meaningless. The second problem is language. It's almost impossible to learn to speak German in only 12 months, since most time will be spent on the study. And I know as a foreigner, it's really hard to find a local job in Germany if I don't speak German.Mon Jul 24, 2006 09:10 AM So, do you guys have any suggestions for me. MBAs are also an asset in Germany, I dont think they are valued less than in other countries. However, you are right in that the criteria are somewhat special. It may well be that a cheaper MBA from FH Reutlingen for example will be valued higher than from esmt, simply because esmt is not yet as established and many people might just not know it yet. So if your plan is to work in Germany afterwards, you might as well choose one of the less international MBAs offered in Germany.Tue Jul 25, 2006 08:57 AM But: Be careful, many of these programs are partly taught in German. Also, without knowledge of German it will be rather difficult to work in Germany afterwards. Didn't they offer you any scholarship? I heard that the full tuition is even higher than at other top b schools. So without any funding, you might as well consider going to one of these established schools.

WHU in Koblenz should certainly be considered. I plan to persue an MBA and have an offer from WHU. I want to persue a career in Management Consulting. how well known WHU for producing leaders in this space. Do the top consulting firms hire there.do McKinsey and BCG hire their grads.i have been told that " Essentially WHU is considered the Porsche of business schools in Germany. Elite, very restrictive selection process for new students, too. " i have also been told that " The MBA is a new kind of degree in Germany so the program may not have a long track record ". Also, I do not speak German yet. so how are the job prospects for an Indian who is not so fluent in the language. of course i do intend taking the German language tuition as well. i would appreciate if you could respond with any additional inputs about WHU. thanks Pavaanjeet pavanishere@gmail.com |
