ESADE or RSM
Ive beed accepted to two MBA programs ESADE and RSM. I am engineer and after MBA want to work in marketing in western Europe. What do you think about both schools, what would be your preference and why? Wed Dec 28, 2005 11:09 AM Evaldas |

ESADE or RSM
According to the Economist, ESADE is ranked higher (34th) than RSM (89th). On the other hand, ESADE is behind IESE and Instituto de Empresa in Spain. Locationwise, I would give a strong preference for Spain since Rotterdam is rather dull (at least in my experience).

Here in Asia ESADE has an excellent reputation, mostly for finance, but also for marketing.

ESADE is certainly far better than RSM. ....as attested by many of my friends who have attended these schools. So a clear green signal for ESADE...........good luck

Hi easy,Thu Aug 24, 2006 03:48 PM the most important business school in Spain are IESE and ESADE, I'm from Barcelona and I have no doubts. EADA and IE are also good but if I were you I would go to ESADE. Between IESE and ESADE the difference is very very low. |

Mugsy,Mon Feb 26, 2007 10:46 PM I would love to hear more from you as a native Spaniard about ESADE vs. IESE vs. IE. I've already been accepted to ESADE and IE and am waiting to hear back from IESE. I think I would prefer to live in Barcelona rather than Madrid, but I have heard that IE's academics and reputation are far superior to those of ESADE. What are your thoughts? |

When schools don't give too much information, I always suspect there's something wrong going on. Thank you for the links. Unfortunately, knowing in which countries the school plans to have information sessions does not tell you what percentage of students comes from each country.

Hi, all the spanish schools have a big percentage of latin america students, as UK B schools have a lot from India or Asia in general, they speak the same language and have some similar features in their culture.Mon May 07, 2007 05:18 PM Ie and Esade have a big percentage as the others, may be there are some points of difference between the two, but is not the distinguishing point, focus more on the ranking, on the course CV or even the location, barcelona and Madrid are quite different cities. Hello James, Tue May 08, 2007 12:48 PM The main reason for the huge presence of Latin American students in most Spanish BSchools is of course language. As it is for the presence of students from Commonwealth countries in British BSchools. This concerns as much instruction language as the every day language spoken in both countries. But I'm not so sure about the conlcusion to draw from this "overpresence", relatively speaking. I think that really "international" schools, meaning those which have an international appeal (proceeding from various factors)among important international companies, will have a quite similar composition of classes, because they are attractive for the international crowd of highly qualified students. Of course location still has some influence - INSEAD in Singapore will attract more Asians, than INCAE in Costa Rica or IE in Spain, logically. Anyways, I will take into account those informations about the origin of students. After all, if I go to Spain to do an MBA, I want to learn and get used to international business style, not Latin American. Just my personal view point.. |

To choose an MBA you need to establish your priorities: - Quality and fame of the institution, price and length of the MBA (i.e.how long you want to study, how much can you afford to pay?) - Location: appeal of the place, weather, chances of remaining working in that city or that country(i.e. If your dream is to move to france, it is better you do not do the MBA in US, if instead you want to go back to your country or going anywhere, you have more options to choose) - Philosophy of the school, more theory oriented, more case methodology(how many classes are pure lectures? How many are only cases methodology) - Composition of class, which ethnic gripus are presents? Special geographical area? (A class of Asian will be much quiter than a class made of european or latin american in terms of participations). - Career possibilities (where you want to work afterwards? Hi-tech finance, how important is your MBA in those fields?) Set your priorities and make your decision (time is running when are you going to decide?) |

I am an Indian currently working in US and wanted to work in Europe post MBA and am trying to decide if RSM is better than IE for me. I am interested in consultancy. Are there lots of opportunities for non-spanish speaking people after finishing their MBA from IE? EUMBA,Wed May 09, 2007 10:54 AM Being 20 or 25 in the FT, does not matter the difference. Rankings are just a proxy, nothing else, then it comes your screening and your ability to get admisions. I would ask to both schools: % of people working in consultancy, top recruiters in the sector, and similar cuestions. Ask also for work permits, for instance, working in the netherlands maybe eeasier then in Spain. As for Spanish Schools, also consider IESE and Esade. |
