Hey Guys,

So i have been reading up on different MBA programs in Europe and this one has caught my attention.

Does anyone know much about their program? It doesn't have any accreditations and I was told by one of their admission people that it is because a program needs to be at least three years old.

On their website it lists many high profile companies that graduates join afterwards, which makes me think that it is a legit program. I would be interested in applying/going to SDA Bocconi or some school in Spain, but I do not want to wait until next year to begin a program as I am thinking of leaving my current job ASAP. Pisa starts in January and right now for me it's the best option. In addition it is far cheaper than many other schools, which is also a benefit to me. I'm from the U.S., so therefore I would want to find a company in Italy that I can join but with a subsidiary in the U.S. so I can come back after a couple of years.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

One thing to look for in an MBA program is if they have been accredited by one of the major organizations (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS, mainly.) I don't think that U. Pisa has been accredited by any of these, unfortunately.

That's not to say that it's not a good program. It's certainly nowhere near SDA Bocconi in terms of reputation. But if you are interested in Italy, look into it: Talk to a representative there, ask to speak with alumni who have gone through the program. If you like what you hear, then it might be worth it.

Hey Ralph,

I know about the accreditations and Pisa has not been accredited yet. I was told by one of the admission staff it is because a program needs to be in existence for at least three years, but she did not tell me how old their program is.

I know the SDA Bocconi is a great school and the best in Italy. The thing is that I would like to start at a school in January and not have to wait a whole year to begin at another school. The companies where graduates have gotten placed from Pisa are pretty big and some are the best in their industry, so I have to think it is legit. But I hear what you are saying and I'll see if I can talk with an alum.

There's not much info on Pisa for those who may be interested but once I find out more, I'll post some stuff up.

I have a interview soon coming up, the only thing im worried about is that it is not even accredited by the education ministry in italy. I really like the story of Pisa university it is one of the oldest in Europe.

you should really be careful with your choice of school - after all, you will spend a lot of time, and also a substantial amount of money on your MBA, and you want it to bring something. the problem with pisa U. is that it is not accredited, so you cant evaluate how good the schooling would be, and it is also not ranked, which means it wont be that known outside of Italy. you also have to check the career services and talk to the alumni - you should always look at the info they give on the website with a healthy amount of suspicion(after all, it is just PR....)

you should check previous threads on this board - the MBA situation in Italy is a bit controversial, and even the best schools there have an Image problem by some. just search for "MBA in Italy" on the board, and you will see what i mean.
