MBA for unemployed retail manager?
Hello all,Wed Jul 08, 2009 02:19 PM I've recently been laid off from after 12 years as a retail manager for a national grocery chain. I'm considering trying for an MBA, and was wondering if anybody can recommend a specific program? I'm in Texas right now, and would like to stay in the US but would be pretty flexible to relocate. Also, does anybody have insight as to if this would be a good idea for somebody in my position. |

Tue Jul 14, 2009 10:53 AM Hello all, The specific program you want depends ont he function you want to be in--is it marketing? consulting? general management? Check out Businessweek for a credible list of US rankings, but if you want to sort out the schools by specialty, do a search on PrincetonReview.com for a comprehensive search engine. These places will be a good start --- |

Thank you for that input. I haven't settled on what exactly it is that I'd like to do; but I do have some downtime so I can figure that out. Honestly, I'm leaning away from the retail I am used to, and toward marketing. Specifically, I live in one of the largest wine-producing areas of the country and believe there some untapped opportunities to promote and market wineries and their products.Wed Jul 15, 2009 04:52 PM In any case, I've got some research to do. Thanks again, Richard. |
